Today's theme is polka dots. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do for today's theme because I'm not totally fond of polka dot manicures. I'm not really sure why. And I'm not too fond of what I came up with either. But here it is!
I used two polishes that are new in my collection! :)
As my base I used Sally Hansen - Lacey Lilac, which the lovely Natalie on Instagram sent to me! I've wanted this pretty lilac for ages and I am so glad that I have it now! Thank you Natalie! :) This colour is supposed to be similar to OPI - Rumples Wiggin which I wanted when I first got into polish but it was hard to find by then. :( From swatches I've seen, this is a tad darker than Rumples Wiggin but it's still really pretty.
And for the dots I used Color Club - Wild at Heart, a beautiful deep purple HOLO! <3 I bought this on Sunday at the Royal Adelaide Show, along with 6 other polishes you'll probably be seeing very soon! 5 of the 7 I bought have been on my wish list for too long!
I wish I'd used a small dotting tool for this mani, I don't really like the large dots. :( But they're holo dots, so that makes them a bit better. ;)
I WISH I got some photos of this in the sunlight because my photos don't really capture the holographic-ness very well, actually you can barely even tell they're holo! The holo effect was much more visible in person!
I'm not sure I'd do a mani like this again. I'm just not crazy about it. And it's kinda hard to get the dots perfectly spaced apart and all the same size on the nail.
I don't know if you can tell, but I chipped the corner of a nail while doing this mani. :( I actually just filed my nails down SUPER short because I couldn't stand the look of a huge chip on the corner! You'll be seeing two more posts with my nails at this length and then you'll see the little baby nails.
